The Diana Chronicles

For those who are interested in the detailed life and also death of Diana the Princess of Wales, should then read The Diana Chronicles by Tina Brown.

In the book Brown speaks of Diana’s life with her husband, but also those contributing factors to her unhappiness. Camilla Parker Bowles, Charles’ long time mistress would be one, but also the media and how it played a huge part in sensationalizing her life, but also led her to her very death.

In the book Brown says, “She was way ahead of her contemporaries in foreseeing a world where celebrity was, so to speak, the coin of the realm. An aristocrat herself, Diana knew that the aristocracy of birth was now irrelevant. All that counted now was the aristocracy of exposure.”

This book is said to be highly detailed and well researched. Walter Isaacson, author of Einstein: His Life and Universe says, "A delightfully smart and insightful book that... weaves a compelling human drama into a rich social history."

There have been many books written about Diana over the years, but this one focuses on the media and how such attention affected the lives of these people, as it pushed a husband and wife into a loveless marriage.

Published by Doubleday, the book finishes at 560 pages.
